Tractor-trailer crash on I-65 in Hardin County leaves one person dead.

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-65 in Hardin County resulted in one fatality Monday morning.

According to Kentucky State Police (KSP), the accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. at the 103-mile marker on northbound I-65 near Lebanon Junction. Traffic had slowed due to a prior collision near the 106-mile marker when a Hyundai Elantra collided with the rear of the tractor-trailer.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Elantra, 29-year-old Drew Cookenmaster, was at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner. The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained no injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while KSP conducted their investigation. Further details regarding the incident are pending.
