ISSAQUENA COUNTY, Miss. — A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning resulted in one fatality and three injuries on U.S. 61 North near Reischer Road.
Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) troopers were dispatched at approximately 3:15 a.m. on November 13 to a scene where a 2007 Toyota Sequoia overturned into a ditch. The vehicle was driven by Demond Qualls, 24, of Greenville.
Passenger Thomas Mitchell, 24, and another passenger, Kevin Lawrence, 23, both from Vicksburg, sustained injuries. Mitchell was transported to Merit Health in Vicksburg while Lawrence was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Louis Qualls, 58, of Vicksburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area due to ongoing construction.
