Norfolk Fire-Rescue Investigates Car Crash That Injures Five and Sends Them to Hospital.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded Sunday morning to a vehicle accident on West Ocean View Avenue involving a power transformer.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., crews discovered a single vehicle had collided with a 6’ x 6’ Dominion Energy transformer. Five individuals were transported to local hospitals, with one reported in critical condition.

The impact caused significant damage to the transformer, resulting in an estimated 100-200 gallons of non-PCB mineral oil leaking onto the roadway. Authorities said the Storm Water Department and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) were notified for assistance.

Dominion Energy personnel provided support for incident containment and response. West Ocean View Avenue is currently closed in both directions from 200 to 300 West Ocean View Avenue, affecting local residents’ power supply.
