ALEXANDRIA, S.D. — A Sioux Falls woman died Friday evening in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90, approximately seven miles east of Alexandria.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 5:36 p.m. near mile marker 351 in Hanson County.
Authorities reported that the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling eastbound when she lost control and veered into the south ditch. The vehicle rolled multiple times, resulting in the ejection of the driver.
The 60-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. It has been confirmed that she was not wearing a seat belt. Her identity has not been disclosed pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash. All details released thus far are preliminary.
