CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — Two students died and others were injured Friday, March 27, in a school bus–dump truck collision near Highway 70, authorities said.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash involved a Kenwood Middle School bus and a dump truck in Carroll County during a field trip.
Authorities said 2 students were killed. Additional occupants were injured; exact numbers and conditions have not been released.
THP identified the school bus driver as Sabrina Ducksworth. No charges or citations have been announced as the investigation continues.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it is examining school bus driver performance, student passenger occupant protection, and oversight of school transportation operations.
According to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, Ducksworth has been employed since July 2021 and had no prior disciplinary actions. The district said it is cooperating with state and federal investigators.
