Wrong-way driver arrested following crash on US-31, according to state police.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A wrong-way driver caused a serious crash on US-31, just north of Apple Avenue, around 2 p.m. on March 2.

Authorities reported that a 36-year-old man from Whitehall was traveling north in the southbound lanes when he collided head-on with another vehicle. Both cars ended up on opposite shoulders following the impact, as captured by a Michigan Department of Transportation camera.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 77-year-old man from Muskegon, was uninjured. The wrong-way driver was arrested at the scene, according to Michigan State Police.

An investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash is ongoing. No lane closures have been reported, and no additional injuries were confirmed.
