FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — Authorities have identified the driver involved in a fatal crash on Highway 180 that occurred Wednesday.
The driver, 41-year-old Zachary Kinberger, remains hospitalized following the incident. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Kinberger was driving a Tesla that collided with a Kia Soul on Highway 180 at Old Oak Road.
The Kia's driver, 34-year-old Misty Lynn, lost control and went off the roadway, crashing approximately 25 to 30 feet down an embankment. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children and another woman were also injured in the crash.
Kinberger was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. Authorities stated that he has a history of reckless driving, with 11 arrests since 2003, including a 2015 incident where he was clocked at over 100 mph during a police chase. He has previously faced domestic violence charges and has been incarcerated three times.
