ANAHOLA, Hawaii (Island News) – A serious single-vehicle crash occurred on March 28, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m.
According to Kauai Police, a 2002 Dodge pickup truck was making a right turn onto Hokualele Road from Kuhio Hwy when it crossed the center line and struck a guardrail. A 46-year-old man seated in the cargo bed was ejected upon impact and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Queen's Medical Center on Oahu for further treatment.
Authorities reported that the 61-year-old driver did not stop to render aid after the collision. Police diverted traffic on Hokualele Road while investigating the scene.
The driver was arrested for multiple offenses, including Negligent Injury in the First Degree and Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant. He was later released pending further investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.
