Ski Racer Lindsey Vonn Uncertain on Future Following Injury Recovery

Lindsey Vonn remains noncommittal about her return to competitive skiing after recovering from a serious injury sustained at the Milan Cortina Olympics on February 8.

According to Vonn, she suffered a complex tibia fracture during her downhill run, which led to compartment syndrome. She thanked Dr. Tom Hackett for performing a fasciotomy that saved her leg. Authorities reported that she nearly lost her limb due to complications from the injury.

In a recent social media update, Vonn stated, “No, I'm not ready to discuss my future in skiing.” She emphasized her autonomy in making decisions about her career, noting the mixed reactions from fans and commentators.

Following the crash, Vonn underwent multiple surgeries in Italy before returning to the United States. She previously stated that her focus has been on recovery and returning to normal life. Vonn was leading the overall World Cup downhill standings before her injury but now sits in third place.

Currently, Vonn is engaging in rehabilitation activities, including weightlifting and cycling, to regain her strength. She expressed optimism about her progress, writing, “I'm biking!! Starting with 5 minutes… making progress one day at a time.”

Witnesses reported that Vonn's crash was severe, as she clipped a gate and fell awkwardly on her back, requiring helicopter transport from the scene.

As of now, no further details have been confirmed regarding her competitive future.
