Nick Booth and Will Hammitt, seniors at James River, died in the incident. Since then, their families have advocated for safe driving and organized this tournament to raise funds for scholarships in their names.
The event raised over $10,000, enabling the families to award two $5,000 scholarships at the end of the school year. According to organizers, the tournament has become a key community effort to prevent future tragedies.
