14-Year-Old Driving Under the Influence Causes Fatal Crash, Killing Baby.

HAMPTON, Va. — A DUI crash on I-64 early Monday morning resulted in the death of a 1-year-old boy, identified as Ma'Khai.

According to Virginia State Police, a 14-year-old girl was driving under the influence when she veered off the road, struck a guardrail, and hit a lane barrier. The boy was not properly restrained and sustained serious injuries; he died on Thursday.

Authorities reported that the child's mother, the driver, was also unrestrained and suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to the hospital following the incident.

The driver faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, driving without a license, and a child restraint violation. Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.

Family members stated that Ma'Khai would have celebrated his 2nd birthday on April 4.
