Tyisha Major, 45, pled guilty Monday to felony death by motor vehicle following a crash that killed her husband.

In Pasquotank County Superior Court, she was sentenced to 8 to 11 years in prison.

The incident occurred in February 2024 when police discovered Jermaine Major, 43, trapped under a vehicle at the intersection of White Street and Walston Avenue.

Despite efforts from first responders to provide life-saving measures, he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities identified Tyisha Major as the driver, initially charging her with felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired.

A Pasquotank County Grand Jury indicted her for murder in March 2024; however, the case concluded with her guilty plea on Monday.
