Hundreds Gather to Mourn Park Hill High School Senior Killed in Crash
KANSAS CITY, MO — Hundreds of students, parents, and community members gathered at Park Hill High School's football field on Friday to honor 18-year-old Tessa Walker, who was tragically killed in a car crash earlier this week.
The accident occurred on Thursday at approximately 7:15 a.m. when Walker's vehicle collided with a pickup truck on Highway 152. Authorities confirmed that two vehicles were involved in the crash, leading to severe injuries for both drivers. EMS responding to the scene transported Walker to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities reported that the other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released from medical care. Traffic on Highway 152 faced significant delays due to lane closures, as first responders worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident. Witnesses stated that weather conditions were clear at the time of the accident.
Local organizations and student groups have arranged support services for students grieving Walker's passing. Classes were temporarily suspended on Friday to allow students and staff to participate in the vigil.
