Brookhaven Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 49 in Madison County
MADISON, Miss. — A Brookhaven man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 49 Thursday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. near Petrified Forest Road, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Authorities reported that a northbound 2007 Toyota Camry driven by 41-year-old Joey Quarles hydroplaned, collided with a 2020 Honda CR-V, and subsequently left the roadway, striking a tree.
The Honda CR-V, operated by Shequita Young, 32, of Yazoo City, had a passenger, Frank Moore, 32, and a child, all of whom were uninjured, authorities said. Quarles suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
