CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — A school bus from Kenwood Middle School was involved in a fatal crash on March 27, while en route to a field trip.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Highway 70 and Cedar Grove, involving the school bus, a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) dump truck, and a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Authorities confirmed that 30 individuals were on the bus, including 25 students and five adults. Two students were reported deceased.

The TDOT vehicle contained two adults, and one adult was in the Chevrolet, though conditions for these individuals were not immediately disclosed. At least seven others suffered injuries, according to the Associated Press.

The investigation is being led by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Families of those on the bus have been contacted by school officials. Emergency personnel, including air medical teams, are currently on-site, and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School District expressed condolences to affected families, confirming the details of the incident. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee extended prayers for those impacted by the tragedy.
