Man Charged with Attempted Homicide Following Shooting and Superior Middle School Crash.

SUPERIOR, Wis. — A 28-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after a shooting incident involving police on Sunday, December 8, 2023.

Dylan Charles-Edward Wallace was arrested following a traffic stop at approximately 2:30 a.m. at Tower Avenue and North 37th Street. According to authorities, Wallace was driving with his girlfriend after a night of drinking when he crashed into a snowbank near Superior Middle School.

During the incident, Wallace allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, who sought help at a nearby nursing home. Witnesses reported red marks on her neck, suggesting domestic violence prior to the shooting.

Wallace retrieved an AK-47 and other firearms from his residence after the crash. He admitted to firing the AK-47 at police during the traffic stop, striking one officer in the arm and her radio. The officer has since been treated and released from the hospital.

Following the stop, he drove his into the middle school, discharging his weapon inside for several hours before surrendering around 7 a.m. Surveillance footage recorded him inside the school with a handgun and a rifle.

Wallace faces four felony charges, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide and discharge of a firearm in a school zone. Cash bail was set at $2 million due to the serious nature of the charges, and he was ordered to have no contact with the victims or to possess firearms if released.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, which has raised significant safety concerns within the community.
