COVENTRY, R.I. (WJAR) — A K-9 unit apprehended a suspect following a crash on Read School House Road on March 25 around 8:30 p.m.
Authorities said 38-year-old Thomas Simmons was charged with DUI, obstructing an officer, and cited for refusing a chemical test.
The crash involved a vehicle striking a pole before Simmons fled the scene on foot.
Coventry Police dispatched a K-9 officer to search the nearby woods, where the dog located Simmons attempting to hide.
Simmons was later arraigned by a bail commissioner and released.
