Sentencing Scheduled for Driver in Fatal Horse-Drawn Buggy Hit-and-Run
OSCEOLA, Iowa — Jacob Wright will be sentenced Thursday afternoon after pleading guilty to charges related to a hit-and-run crash that killed a teenage buggy driver.
The incident occurred on November 12 on a rural road near Murray in Clarke County. According to court documents, Wright pleaded guilty to knowingly leaving the scene of a deadly crash and failure to assist. The crash resulted in the death of 16-year-old Elmer Borntrager, the buggy's driver.
Authorities confirmed that Wright was operating a vehicle with a suspended license at the time of the crash.
