Man charged with crashing car into business and stabbing victim held on $750,000 bail.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A man crashed a vehicle into a Dollar Tree and subsequently stabbed the mother of his three children on Monday morning.

Shawn Handley, 45, faces 10 charges including attempted murder and multiple counts of assault, according to authorities. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police reported the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Craig Road near Decatur Boulevard, stemming from a domestic dispute.

Witnesses reported that Handley sent a text message prior to the incident, indicating his intent to crash the into the business. After the crash, he allegedly stabbed the woman several times in full view of onlookers.

A gun was fired during the confrontation, but police confirmed it originated from a nearby individual shooting at Handley. The state's representative emphasized the seriousness of the defendant's actions in court.

Court records revealed Handley's criminal history includes five felonies and gross misdemeanors from 1998 to 2006, although specifics were not disclosed.

The defense argued for bail at $30,000, highlighting Handley's community ties and employment. Despite these claims, Judge Suzan Baucum set bail at $750,000, citing public safety concerns due to the premeditated nature of the attack.

The victim was transported to a local hospital. Handley is scheduled to appear in court again on March 26.
