According to Monona Police Chief Brian Chaney, one man remains in critical condition, while a woman with serious injuries is now stable. The remaining injured parties sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities reported that the driver of a full-size pickup truck, traveling east on Broadway, suffered an “acute medical emergency,” rendering him unconscious. The truck continued accelerating at a high speed, colliding with several vehicles stopped at a red light.
The driver, who was unharmed, is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Lane closures were enacted as emergency personnel responded to the scene, and the investigation is still active. Chaney urged the community to keep those affected by the incident in their thoughts.
