Multiple-Vehicle Collision on I-95 Near Smithfield Leaves Two Injured
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (October 12, 2023) – A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 northbound resulted in two individuals sustaining injuries late Thursday morning.
According to the Rhode Island State Police, the incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. near exit 20. Emergency response teams, including the Smithfield Fire Department and AMBULANCE, arrived promptly to assist the injured.
Authorities reported that two people were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No fatalities were recorded at the scene.
All northbound lanes were closed for approximately 45 minutes while a tow truck removed the vehicles and the roadway was cleared for safety. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
