JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – A fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision occurred on Roberts Road at Crater Lake Avenue on October 23, 2026, at approximately 4:39 p.m.
According to the Medford Police, an adult pedestrian was lying in the roadway when struck by a vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced the individual dead at the scene.
Investigators stated that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the accident. They have found no evidence supporting any criminal conduct associated with the collision.
Authorities clarified via social media that the incident involved an adult, not a child, countering earlier misinformation.
The intersection at Roberts Road and Crater Lake Avenue will remain closed while the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team conducts its investigation. Roberts Road is closed between Melody Lane and Crater Lake Avenue, with closures expected to last an extended period.
