Duplin County Crash Leads to Home Fire, Displacing Resident

DUPLIN COUNTY, NC—A vehicle crash early Saturday morning resulted in a fire that destroyed a home, leaving a woman displaced.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. when a vehicle crashed into a residence, igniting flames that engulfed the structure. Fire and emergency services responded quickly, but the home was deemed a total loss.

The homeowner was reportedly asleep at the time of the incident and was unharmed. Eyewitnesses described a scene of devastation as flames consumed the property. “We were just watching it go up in flames. There was nothing we could do,” one witness said.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver or any potential charges. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.

Despite the loss, the family managed to salvage a handcrafted guitar belonging to the homeowner's husband, which survived the fire. “Everything's damaged, but we are grateful for this piece of him,” the homeowner's daughter remarked.

The family is seeking support as they work to rebuild. A GoFundMe has been established, with details available on Randi Walker's Facebook page.

Further updates will be provided as more information is confirmed.
