CASCADE, Idaho (CBS2) — A crash claimed the life of a 32-year-old man from Meridian on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:23 p.m. on October 3, 2026, on southbound State Highway 55 at milepost 95 in Valley County. According to Idaho State Police, the rider was operating a 2026 CBR650 motorcycle when he lost control and veered off the roadway. The motorcycle traveled down an embankment and came to rest in thick brush near an empty pond.

Emergency responders pronounced the rider dead at the scene; he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Authorities confirmed that the highway remained open during the response. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
