In a tragic incident that unfolded on September 24, a school bus crash in Sanger resulted in the death of 13-year-old Julian Amador. The young boy had just celebrated his birthday a week prior.
Julian was close to home, approximately two minutes away from his mother's residence, when the accident occurred. His father, Emmanuel Amador, had been waiting at the bus stop and received a message from Julian saying he was nearly home.
However, shortly after that communication, the school bus, carrying Julian and other students, veered off Huling Road, struck a culvert, and rolled over. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the scene and reported that the driver, 38 years old, and three other students suffered minor injuries.
Julian faced severe injuries, including blunt force trauma to the left side of his head. Despite several attempts at CPR and immediate transportation to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries just before 6 p.m.
On Wednesday, around 200 mourners gathered to honor Julian at his funeral, where his parents expressed their profound sorrow. They shared their hope for answers surrounding the crash. “I wish this to nobody,” said Amador, reflecting on their immense loss.
As they navigate their grief, the family is seeking clarity on what led to the crash. Brenda Lopez, Julian's mother, emphasized her desire for complete transparency regarding the events that unfolded. “I need to know what caused the accident in the beginning,” she stated, pointing out that the bus was equipped with security video, now in the hands of investigators.
The school district has yet to respond to queries regarding the driver's employment history and any past issues. Meanwhile, the DPS indicated that their investigation remains ongoing.
Julian was remembered as a kind-hearted boy with dreams of becoming an architect, admired for his creativity and thoughtfulness towards others. His parents cherish memories of him building things and sharing a special bond with his older sister.
<p“It will never be the same, but I know he's my hero,” Amador reflected, capturing the essence of their beloved son.
