Seven Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-495 South in Mansfield
MANSFIELD, Mass. — A seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 495 South resulted in seven people being transported to local hospitals on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 7:57 p.m. near mile marker 31.2.
Mansfield Firefighters Local 1820 reported that fire crews responded to the scene and discovered multiple heavily damaged vehicles. Additional ambulances were called in to assist as paramedics evaluated the individuals involved in the accident.
Ambulances from Mansfield, Foxborough, Norton, Wrentham, and Plainville transported the injured to various hospitals, including Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital, Boston Medical Center South, and Sturdy Memorial Hospital. The conditions of those hospitalized were not disclosed.
Massachusetts State Police confirmed that the right and middle lanes of the southbound side of I-495 were closed following the crash.
