9-Year-Old Girl Dies in I-35 Service Road Crash
AUSTIN, Texas — A nine-year-old girl has died following a two-vehicle crash on the I-35 service road in Southeast Austin. The incident occurred at approximately 7:41 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of the South I-35 northbound service road and East State Highway 71 westbound service road.
The Austin Police Department identified the girl as Lilliana Segura. She was a passenger in a Jeep Compass, which included a driver and two juvenile passengers. The Jeep collided with a Tesla Cybertruck driven by a single operator. Both juvenile passengers were transported to a local hospital, where Segura was pronounced dead. The other child remains in critical condition, according to police.
The Jeep was traveling north on the I-35 service road while the Tesla was heading west on East Ben White Boulevard. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision, but both drivers are cooperating, and neither showed signs of intoxication.
This incident marks the 56th fatal crash in Austin for 2026.
