Columbus, Ohio — A wrong-way crash on Interstate 270 early Thursday left one driver dead and another critically injured, authorities said.
According to authorities, a 2017 Ram 2500 entered I-270 eastbound traveling westbound from the eastbound exit ramp to Cleveland Avenue.
The Ram continued the wrong way into the path of a 2011 Kia Optima traveling eastbound between I-71 and Cleveland Avenue, striking it head-on.
Impact pushed the Kia into the median wall, and the Ram came to rest on top of the car, investigators said.
Columbus Fire arrived and pronounced the Kia driver, 51-year-old Mario Tufts-Davison, dead at the scene.
The adult Ram driver was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
The Accident Investigation Unit responded and is investigating. Authorities did not immediately release information on lane closures or tows.
