Salem, MA – A bicyclist was critically injured in a collision with a vehicle Thursday evening.
Authorities responded to the crash at the intersection of North and Lynde streets around 7:20 p.m. A 59-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and was initially taken to Salem Hospital before being transferred to a Boston hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
The 79-year-old driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police. It is currently unclear if charges will be filed.
The incident is under investigation by Salem Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
