KALAELOA, Hawaii (Island News) – A traffic collision early Sunday morning on Coral Sea Road resulted in one fatality, according to officials.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. when a 48-year-old woman, driving northbound, failed to navigate a bend in the roadway, veering off the road and colliding with a tree. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities confirmed the woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Preliminary investigations indicate that speed and alcohol may be contributing factors.
This incident marks Oahu's 28th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 63 fatalities at this time in 2025.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
