Taylor Swift Donates $50,000 to Support Injured Mother in Highway Rescue
HOPKINTON, R.I. (October 22, 2023) — Pop star Taylor Swift donated $50,000 to assist Ashley Taunton, a 42-year-old mother seriously injured while helping victims of a highway crash.
According to reports, Taunton was driving on Interstate 95 with her youngest daughter when she stopped to assist teenagers involved in a hydroplaning accident. Witnesses said as she helped the teens, another vehicle lost control. Taunton pushed one of the teens out of the way but was struck by the vehicle.
Authorities confirmed Taunton suffered life-threatening injuries, including a ruptured diaphragm, broken ribs, and internal bleeding. She has undergone three major surgeries and is currently recovering.
Swift’s donation was made to a GoFundMe campaign established for Taunton, which aims to support her family with medical expenses and household costs during her recovery. The campaign has garnered significant public support.
Taunton’s husband, Joe, noted the overwhelming community assistance they have received throughout this ordeal. The connection between Taunton and one of the teens helped was revealed after her family arrived at the hospital.
As of now, there are no updates on the investigation into the crash or potential charges against the driver who struck Taunton.
