Three Killed in Duchesne County Crash; Semi-Truck vs. Kia Incident
DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah — Three individuals died in a crash involving a semi-truck and a Kia hatchback on U.S. Highway 40 near Starvation Reservoir Friday afternoon.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. The Kia was traveling west when an eastbound semi-truck drifted off the roadway, struck the guardrail, then over-corrected, crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with the Kia.
All three occupants of the Kia, identified as a 52-year-old woman, a 42-year-old man, and an 18-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a medical facility.
Emergency responders and tow services were on-site following the collision. The highway was temporarily closed to facilitate the investigation and vehicle recovery.
Authorities are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
