BROCKTON, MA — A Massachusetts State Police trooper has been cited for negligent operation and speeding following a crash on Aug. 10.
The collision occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Belmont Street, involving the state police cruiser and another vehicle. Both the trooper and the two occupants of the other car were hospitalized.
According to a spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police, the Department is cooperating with the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, which is investigating the incident. “Based on the preliminary information available at this time, the Department has cited the Trooper-operator for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding,” the spokesperson stated.
The trooper is currently on injured leave. No updates on the condition of the other two individuals have been provided.
Traffic on Belmont Street at Edinboro Avenue was closed for investigation but reopened early the following morning.
