SEYMOUR, Ind. (WRTV) — Two adults and a 1-year-old boy died early Sunday in a wrong-way crash on I-65 near Seymour, Indiana State Police report.

Authorities said the collision occurred just after 2:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-65 in Jackson County, approximately one mile south of Seymour.

Investigators determined that 51-year-old Theosco Middlebrooks of Louisville was driving northbound in the southbound lanes in a 2005 Jeep Liberty when he collided head-on with a 2023 Escape driven by 31-year-old Alyssa Osborn of Scottsburg.

Both Middlebrooks and Osborn were at the scene.

Osborn's 1-year-old son, Waylon, was critically injured and later died at a hospital; he was properly restrained in a seat.

Authorities believe alcohol consumed by Middlebrooks likely contributed to the crash, with toxicology results pending.

All southbound lanes of I-65 were closed for about four hours for investigation and cleanup. The investigation is ongoing.
