TULSA, Okla. (KOKH) — Authorities confirmed two fatalities and four injuries in a crash on I-44 and I-244 on Wednesday evening.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 6:20 p.m. following the collision involving two vehicles.
According to investigators, 58-year-old Sheldon March, traveling westbound on I-44, attempted to merge onto I-244 when his vehicle struck another vehicle in the outside lane.
The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway. March and the other driver, identified as 28-year-old Vica Perez, died at the scene.
Four passengers from both vehicles sustained injuries and were transported for medical treatment.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the conditions of the injured. Both westbound lanes of I-44 were closed during the investigation and cleanup.
