ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Four siblings were rescued from a rollover crash on Interstate 65 South after a Kentucky State Trooper witnessed the accident on Friday.
The siblings were en route to Mammoth Cave when a semi-truck merged into their lane, forcing their vehicle off the road, according to authorities. The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m.
Trooper Blaine Miller observed smoke coming from the overturned vehicle and acted quickly. “I knew that we were on the clock to try to get them out,” Miller stated. He instructed the siblings to close their eyes before breaking the car‘s windshield to facilitate their escape.
The Blooms sustained only minor injuries, described as scrapes and bruises. 18-year-old Samantha Bloom expressed gratitude for Miller's timely intervention. “I don't think we'd be here without him,” she said.
KENTUCKY STATE POLICE emphasized that the crash could have resulted in more serious consequences and reiterated the importance of seat belt use. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no additional details about the semi-truck driver have been released.
