LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX NEWS) — UPDATE: Aug. 12 at 12:40 p.m.

Authorities have identified the victim of a three-vehicle crash on Versailles Road that occurred Wednesday morning. The Fayette County Coroner's Office confirmed that 29-year-old Carter Peterson died from blunt trauma injuries.

Peterson was at the UK Medical Center, according to officials. Lexington police continue to investigate the incident.

A three-vehicle collision caused significant traffic disruptions on Versailles Road Wednesday morning, resulting in one person sustaining life-threatening injuries, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported that U.S. 60 is blocked near mile point 0.3, at the Fayette-Woodford county line. Versailles Road remains closed between Man O' War Boulevard and Shannon Run Road as emergency crews respond.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) of the Lexington Police Department is on scene to investigate. Inbound traffic to Lexington from Woodford County is being redirected to either Shannon Run Road or Pisgah Pike during the ongoing response.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes as the investigation proceeds. The Versailles Police Department has no additional information at this time.
