Two Suspects Sought Following Burglary and Crash in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa — Authorities are searching for two suspects after a vehicle crash and subsequent foot chase early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a burglary alarm just after 3 a.m. at a business in the 3900 block of East 14th Street. The business owner provided a description of the vehicle involved after viewing security footage.

Approximately 10 minutes later, an officer located the vehicle near Third Street and Aurora Avenue. When approached, the vehicle fled, initiating a brief pursuit.

The chase ended at Northwest Morningstar Drive and Aurora Avenue, where the vehicle rolled onto its roof. The two occupants exited the vehicle and fled into a nearby wooded area.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office, along with the Ankeny Police Department K-9 unit and a drone from the Urbandale Police Department, conducted a search for nearly an hour but were unable to locate the suspects.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and are examining a potential link to a separate burglary reported shortly before 3 a.m. at a business in the 1000 block of University Avenue.

Authorities stated additional information will be released as it becomes available.
