OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA (KOKH) — Oklahoma City police have arrested 25-year-old John Michael Chavez in connection with a fatal crash on Monday morning.

Chavez faces charges of second-degree murder, leaving the scene of a fatality accident, and aggravated DUI.

ORIGINAL:

Oklahoma City police responded to a deadly vehicle accident early Monday morning involving an electric scooter.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, the victim, riding the scooter, was traveling westbound near the 4200 block of NW Expressway when a vehicle, also traveling westbound, struck them around 2:00 a.m.

The driver fled the scene and remains unidentified. The scooter rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities said this investigation is ongoing.
