ST. JAMES PARISH, La. — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a fatal boating accident that occurred on July 25 in Brazan Canal, Vacherie.
According to authorities, 32-year-old Austin R. McKee of Vacherie died after his boat crashed around 10 p.m. Witnesses reported the vessel left the water and struck a tree.
McKee's body was recovered on-site and has been turned over to the St. James Parish Coroner's Office for an official cause of death determination. The LDWF Enforcement Division is leading the investigation into this incident.
