COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Traffic Safety Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol debuted a rollover simulator at the Ohio State Fair on July 30, 2026.
According to the agencies, the simulator demonstrates occupant movement and impact forces in a low-speed rollover and highlights how safety belts prevent severe injuries.
Organizers said the simulator is located at the 17th Avenue entrance and exit gate during the fair, with OTSO staff operating the exhibit and providing safety information.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol crash statistics, from 2021 through 2025, 73% of rollover fatalities involved unrestrained occupants, resulting in 697 deaths; more than 6,500 unrestrained injuries were recorded.
Authorities said the exhibit will travel to community events, safety fairs, schools and outreach programs across Ohio after the fair. Organizers said proper safety-belt use reduces the risk of fatal injuries by nearly half.
