Driver Dies in Rollover Crash on State Highway 26 in Jefferson County.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wis. — A tragic crash on State Highway 26, near the County Highway N overpass, claimed the life of a driver on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 8:57 a.m., prompting a swift response from local authorities following a 911 call.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Travis Maze, the initial report indicated a rollover in the southbound lanes. A second caller alerted dispatchers that the driver had likely been from the vehicle.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered a vehicle severely damaged and located the driver a short distance away, suffering from grave injuries. Unfortunately, emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Investigators found that the vehicle had been traveling southbound on State Highway 26 when it veered off onto the shoulder. In an attempt to regain control, the driver struck a mile marker sign, which led to the rollover.

The vehicle rolled over before coming to a halt, leaving debris scattered across the roadway.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash.
