Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on Bardstown Road Early Sunday Morning
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning resulted in the death of a man on Bardstown Road near South Watterson Trail.
According to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD), the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when officers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian. Preliminary investigations indicate that a vehicle was stopped in the left northbound lane of Bardstown Road following an earlier crash.
Authorities reported the pedestrian was standing near his car beside a concrete median when an unknown vehicle, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, struck him and fled the scene.
Louisville EMS and Fern Creek Fire responded promptly, transporting the victim to UofL Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is pending notification of next of kin by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
The circumstances surrounding the earlier crash are still under investigation, and LMPD's Traffic Unit is leading the inquiry.
