COLUMBUS, Ohio — One pedestrian was killed and three people were hospitalized after a crash around 2:42 p.m. Wednesday near King Avenue and North High Street.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, a Ford Mustang traveling east on King Avenue ran a red light at North High Street, left the roadway, struck two pedestrians on the sidewalk and came to rest atop a black Chevrolet Malibu in a nearby Kroger parking lot.
One pedestrian was pronounced dead at 3:14 p.m. The second pedestrian was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
Authorities said the Malibu's occupant was hospitalized in stable condition. The Mustang's driver was treated at a hospital and taken into custody.
Crews used a crane to remove the Mustang from the Malibu and the Jaws of Life to free the trapped Malibu occupant, according to police. Several other vehicles were damaged.
Authorities said they believe the driver was intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing, and identities have not been released.
