Authorities are searching for the driver of a van involved in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Greene County after fleeing on foot.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of Newell Road and Guy Sugg Road, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the van's driver failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in a collision with another vehicle.
The driver fled the scene before troopers arrived and has not been located. Charges are pending.
Investigators believe the driver is male but have not released further identifying details.
Witnesses reported that the remaining occupants of the van were farmworkers in the area and were located nearby after leaving the crash site.
The two individuals in the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and were transported to UNC Health Lenoir for treatment.
Personnel from the Snow Hill Rural Fire Department assisted with traffic control while the scene was secured. The roadway has since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing, authorities confirmed.
