EASTOVER, SC — A head-on collision on McCord's Ferry Road resulted in one fatality and one injury on July 10 around 10 a.m.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a southbound tractor-trailer collided with a northbound 2014 GMC Sierra near Lake Dogwood Circle. The driver of the GMC Sierra was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported the tractor-trailer driver to a local hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Austin D. Lesane, 44, of Blythewood, according to the Richland County Coroner's Office. The driver of the tractor-trailer has not been publicly identified.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The crash occurred approximately 40 minutes east of downtown Columbia, near the McCrady Training Center.
