Fatal Crash in Taunton Claims Toddler's Life; Mother and Sister Injured
TAUNTON, MA — A nearly 2-year-old girl was killed, and her mother and 5-year-old sister were injured in a head-on collision on Saturday night, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. on Broadway/Route 138 near Jackson Street when an SUV struck a van. The victims were transported to a local hospital, where the toddler was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The 5-year-old was reported in stable condition, while their mother, who was driving, also sustained injuries and was in stable condition.
The four occupants of the van were unharmed and remained at the scene. Police reported heavy damage to the vehicles but noted that the van remained centered in its lane.
The incident is under investigation by state and local police. It is unclear if any charges will be filed.
