DUI Charges Filed After Crash Injures Five in Hancock

Two-Vehicle Crash in Hancock Results in Charges for Impaired Driver

A two-vehicle crash on Sunday morning at the intersection of Poplar Lane and Washington Junction Road in Hancock led to multiple charges against the driver of one vehicle.

According to the Maine State Police, the incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. when Katrina Springer, 35, of Ellsworth, allegedly made a left turn from Poplar Lane onto Washington Junction Road. She collided with a driven by Amy Richards, 43, also from Ellsworth.

Springer and four passengers in her Kia were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities reported that Richards was charged with operating under the influence and driving after her license had been revoked.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and the road was temporarily closed during the response and cleanup.
