AUSTIN, Texas — A 9-year-old girl, identified as Lilliana Segura, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the I-35 service road on Wednesday morning.
The collision occurred at 7:41 a.m. at the intersection of the South I-35 northbound service road and East State Highway 71 westbound service road, according to the Austin Police Department. It involved a Jeep Compass with a driver and two juvenile passengers and a Tesla Cybertruck driven by a single driver.
Both juvenile passengers from the Jeep were transported to a hospital, where Segura was pronounced dead. The other child remains hospitalized in critical condition. The drivers of both vehicles also sought medical treatment, police reported.
Authorities said the Jeep was traveling north on the I-35 service road, while the Tesla was heading west on the East Ben White Boulevard service road. Investigators are still determining the cause of the crash. Both drivers are cooperating with the investigation, and officials confirmed that neither was intoxicated at the time.
This incident marks Austin's 56th fatal crash of 2026.
