WHITEFIELD, ME – A 21-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Vigue Road Sunday morning.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, the man was riding a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250 northbound on Vigue Road when he veered off the roadway and struck trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene, with his identity withheld pending family notification.
Authorities reported that speed and driver inexperience are believed to be contributing factors. The rider was the sole occupant and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Responding agencies included Whitefield Fire and Rescue, Windsor Fire Department, and Delta Ambulance. Vigue Road was closed from approximately 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for investigation and cleanup.
The incident is under investigation. Witnesses or anyone with information are encouraged to contact the sheriff's office, with Sgt. Scott Hayden leading the investigation.
